About FCA

The Fellowship of Christian Athletes engages coaches and athletes to grow in their faith and sport.

Get In Touch

Since 1954, FCA has been challenging coaches and athletes on the professional, college, high school, junior high andyouth levels to use the powerful platform of sport to reach every coach and every athlete with the transforming power of Jesus Christ.

FCA focuses on serving local communities around the globe by engaging, equipping and empowering coaches and athletes to unite, inspire and change the world through the gospel.

Fulfilling the Vision: The 2018 initiative launched at Realtime (Feb.) is grounded in running the play of making disciples that Jesus communicated to his disciples in Matthew 28:18-20. With the ministry maturing, we've refined our vision and clarified our mission while holding to our values.  We are pressing forward with our strategy of "To and Through the Coach" with the methods of engaging, equipping and empowering (E3) coaches and athletes to know and grow in Christ and lead others to do the same: Disciples who make disciples.

We believe that through the international platform of sport, coaches and athletes have the power to unite, inspire, and change the world through the gospel. With a God-sized vision ... a motivating mission ... solid values ... a clear strategy and methods ... We are ready ...

Our Values: In our relationships, we will demonstrate our steadfast commitment to Jesus Christ and His Word through:

Integrity -   We will individually demonstrate Christ-like wholeness publicly and privately.

"The integrity of the upright guides them, but the unfaithful are destroyed by their duplicity."

(Proverbs 11:3)

Serving - We will model Jesus' example of serving.

"...After washing their feet, he put on his robe again and sat down and asked, 'Do you understand what I was doing? You call me ‘Teacher’ and ‘Lord,’ and you are right, because that’s what I am. And since I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you ought to wash each other’s feet. I have given you an example to follow. Do as I have done to you...'"

(John 13:1-17)

Teamwork - We will express our unity in Christ in all our relationships.

"Is there any encouragement from belonging to Christ? Any comfort from his love? Any fellowship together in the Spirit? Are your hearts tender and compassionate? Then make me truly happy by agreeing wholeheartedly with each other, loving one another, and working together with one mind and purpose. Don’t be selfish; don’t try to impress others. Be humble, thinking of others as better than yourselves. Don’t look out only for your own interests, but take an interest in others, too. You must have the same attitude that Christ Jesus had."

(Philippians 2:1-5)

Excellence - We will honor and glorify God in all that we do.

"Work willingly at whatever you do, as though you were working for the Lord rather than for people. Remember that the Lord will give you an inheritance as your reward, and that the Master you are serving is Christ."

(Colossians 3:23-24)

Our Strategy: To and Through the Coach

We pursue our vision and mission through the strategy of to and through the coach.
We seek ministry first to coaches hearts, marriages and families. Then, when ready, we minister through coaches to their fellow coaches, teams and athlete leaders.

Our Methods:

As FCA matures, we seek to make disciples through our methods of engaging, equipping and empowering coaches and athletes to know and grow in Christ and lead others to do the same.

Engage (1 Thessalonians 2:8)
We engage relationally by connecting with individuals and through events in many differentenvironments by building genuine trust, sharing our lives and sharing the gospel. We strive to connectwith coaches and athletes where they are on their spiritual journey.

Equip (Ephesians 4:12)
After cultivating relationships and once coaches and athletes come to faith in Christ, we want to equipthem with Christ-centered training, events, resources and on-going support in what it means to be afollower of Christ, growing in God’s Word and applying it to life.

Empower (2 Timothy 2:2)
Once equipped, we empower faithful leaders who desire to use their time, talents and treasures to helpother coaches and athletes experience the gospel, grow in their faith and share Him with others. Wedesire to develop disciples who make disciples, assisting them so that they can in turn engage, equip andempower others to know and grow in Christ and lead others to do the same.

Our Vision: To see the world transformed by Jesus Christ through the influence of coaches and athletes.

Our Mission: To lead every coach and athlete into a growing relationship with Jesus Christ and His church.

Our History

Since its inception in 1954, the Fellowship of Christian Athletes has continued to grow while staying committed to founder Don McClanen's vision of coaches and athletes influencing for Christ. Today, through God's grace, FCA is positioned more strongly than ever to continue fulfilling what Don described as "God's amazing, miraculous dream."

Jesus came and told his disciples, "I have been given all authority in heaven and on earth. Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age."

Matthew 28:18-20
