Our [Carroll County FCA's] 6th Annual Fields of Faith was held on the field at Century High School on Monday, October 1st! It was a great time to connect with athletes from around the county and play games like Ultimate Frisbee, corn hole and can jam. We were also joined by our friends, Johnny Shelton (Ravens Chaplain), James Hurst and Morgan Cox of the Ravens.
One of the most powerful moments of the evening was the testimony given by Alyssa Schwartz. Alyssa, a lacrosse player at McDaniel College, recounted her initial belief in Jesus Christ, how she struggled through some tests during high school and her first semester at McDaniel, and the ultimate honor of creating disciples through the many avenues provided to her by God.
"I knew from the beginning that if I surrounded myself by like-minded people at FCA, I would find the drive and motivation to pursue God. My relationship with Christ just kept getting stronger. I was more and more involved in FCA and by the summer before junior year, I was able to play for the FCA Women's National Team at Lake Placid. I was able to connect and meet so many other girls that were going through the same phase of life as me. To this day I am inspired by the people I have met through FCA."
Alyssa is now a huddle leader at McDaniel and will be participating in future FCA Leadership Camps. She finishes her testimony, "I look forward to spending my summer doing two of my favorite things; praising my Lord, and playing lacrosse. He has blessed me with a body able to compete on the field and has given me the passion to worship and spread His name across McDaniel College, Maryland, and hopefully beyond these state lines. FCA has impacted my life so positively and helped instill in me a stable and passionate life for Jesus Christ."
