Honoring the legacy of a Coach who loved and lived God's Word

Coach 'A'

Maryland FCA is thankful for the opportunity to honor Coach Phil Albert, known affectionately as “Coach ‘A.’” Effective this year we are adding his name to the Maryland FCA Bible Fund, carrying on his legacy of guiding coaches and athletes into the Word of God. As the head football coach at Towson University from 1972-1991, Coach "A" led thousands of athletes including 28 All-American recipients and three future NFL players. He later was inducted into Towson’s Athletic Hall of Fame.

A Man of God

Coach “A” was beloved by his athletes on and off the field. When speaking about Coach A’s impact on their lives, former players referred to him as “a pure person” who was “full of love,” a “great motivator…[and a] true man of faith.” Others noted “he was truly a man of God” and “the epitome of how we as Christians should live.” Coach “A” instilled his love of Jesus in countless athletes. As one player put it, “Football was a tool he used to teach boys to become men. He was my teacher, coach, mentor, and dear friend. His passion was his belief in the Lord Jesus Christ.” Undoubtedly, Coach “A” loved and lived the Word of God.
